MY NAME IS MICHAEL YOUNG – Licensed Acupuncturist, Shiatsu Therapy, and Kemp Herbs
I specialize in the treatment of acute and chronic pain syndromes, closed head injuries (TBIs), autoimmune disorders, digestive disorders, and psychiatric disorders. While I lived in Kyoto, Japan from 1985 to 1987 I took my first bodywork class in 1983 and proceeded to study Shiatsu (both Namikoshi style and Masunaga style aka "Zen Shiatsu". I also was able to do an apprenticeship with Dr. Koji Imura of Osaka, Japan. Upon returning to the U.S. in 1987 I attended the American College of Traditional Chinese Medicine in San Francisco, CA where I earned a Master of Science Degree in Traditional Chinese Medicine in 1990.
I have been practicing as a licensed acupuncturist since 1991 when I became licensed in California. In 1993 Michael moved to Boulder, Colorado to join an integrated clinic where Medical Doctors and Alternative and Complementary health care providers worked in cooperation.
I am also currently working on a book whose working title is "Auriculotherapy; A Clinical Guide." I have a special interest in treating challenging patients who have often have increased "body burden" (environmental toxicity) and have studied naturopathic approaches as well as homotoxicology approaches and mix them with Kampo abdominal based detoxification approaches. More info about me is available on my website, www.younghealthcare.com
